A variety of Sodalite, Hackmanite displays a rare phenomenon called tenebrescence or reversible photochromism (reverse colour change). The stone changes colour when exposed to sunlight and reverts back to its original colour, sometimes rather slowly, when moved to a darkened room. Hackmanite also reacts to UV light.
 
When used as a healing stone, Hackmanite can initiate deep inner change. Its vibration disrupts stagnation, helping to loosen any issues in the unconscious that may be affecting your life today so you can identify and release them. These could include imprints and patterns handed down from your ancestors that you were unaware of carrying.
